Hello hello! The 4th of July holiday weekend is upon us, and I’m okay with having a low-key celebration this year, given the current state of the world. However, I refuse to sacrifice one of my favorite Independence Day traditions, and that is cheers’ing my loved ones with a jello shot! A pretty, juicy, festive watermelon jello shot, to be exact!
Watermelon jello shots are easy to make, tasty, and adorable! They are the perfect touch to any party big or small!
So here’s the squeeze.
Directions:
1. You need 6 limes
2. Slice your limes in half and hallow out the center.
Hollowing out the limes might take a bit more prep time than your average Jell-O shot, but the result is totes cute and def worth it!
3. Boil one cup of filtered water
4. While you wait for your water to boil, place baking cup liners in a muffin pan
5. Add one packet of red or pink jello
Hot tip: I go for the healthier option here and use Simply Delish Jel dessert rather than the generic Jell-O brand. The Simply Delish Jel dessert has the same consistency but without the gelatin. This makes for a vegan-friendly and naturally gluten-free dessert.
If you can find watermelon Jel dessert or gelatin, go for it!! But, that coveted watermelon flavor is hard to come by, so raspberry it is! Raspberry and watermelon have a similar color, and that’s all that matters because we are going for the aesthetic here anyways, right. 😉
6. Add one cup of chilled vodka
I use Tito’s handmade vodka because, duh!
7. Whisk well until your jello is dissolved
8. Place one lime rind in each baking cup liner and pour your liquid inside
9. Make room in your fridge, and let these QT’s cool down for at least 3 hours
Hot tip: If you decide to make your boozy melons a couple of days in advance be sure to keep them in the fridge stored in tightly sealed Tupperware, so they stay juicy and fresh for your party peeps!
10. & when you’re ready to get the party started, take your melons out of the fridge: Slice, Serve, & Cheers!
& that’s the squeeze.
Cheers babes, Happy 4th!!
